Unraveling the Curious Case of the Bias-Woven Rectangle 2026

Instructor: Bex Oliger w/ Hillcreek Yarn

Enter the world of continuous strand weaving, a technique so delightfully clever it might have been devised by the great detective himself. In this workshop, we will take up our frame looms and investigate the intriguing bias structure created when a single continuous strand forms an entire woven piece, no shuttles, no complicated treadling, only the elegance of method and the satisfaction of discovery.

Under expert guidance, students will:
- Learn the fundamentals of weaving on a rectangular frame loom
- Create a 20-inch rectangle during class
- Uncover the secret to joining multiple pieces seamlessly
- Solve the final puzzle: assembling individual rectangles into a polished, finished project

By the end of this session, you will have completed your first woven rectangle and gained the skills to continue constructing larger items—each one a small triumph of logic, technique, and artisanal flair.
