The Whirling Mystery of the Lazy Susan Basket 2026

Class Time: Saturday, April 25, 2026 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Location: St. Louis Community College - Meramec Campus, 11333 Big Bend Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Check in at Registration 15 minutes prior to class starting at PE Building for location.

The game is afoot  and this time, it spins! Beginning with a sturdy 10-inch wooden base, this clever construction grows to an impressive 12 inches by the end of your investigation. In this hands-on class, you’ll unravel the clues to basket weaving mastery while crafting a rotating Lazy Susan that’s as functional as it is beautiful.

Under the watchful eye of our lead investigator (that’s you!), you’ll learn to identify the right and wrong sides of your reed — a subtle but critical distinction for any discerning detective. You’ll practice twining, start-and-stop weaving, applying the rim, and lashing everything securely into place. Once your basket has taken shape, the base will be neatly screwed in to complete your spinning masterpiece.

By the end of your inquiry, you’ll have solved the mystery of movement and design, leaving with a perfectly balanced Lazy Susan basket — ready to take center stage in your home or workshop. Elementary, indeed!
