Step into the world of textile investigation as we uncover the secrets of nuno felting, a technique where wool, silk, water, and motion combine to create ethereal, textured fabric. This hands-on workshop is perfect for beginners and seasoned fiber sleuths alike, offering an introduction to the beautiful and surprisingly magical process of bonding loose wool fibers to sheer cloth.

“Nuno,” the Japanese word for cloth, lends its name to this method, which transforms gossamer silk and soft merino into a lightweight, wearable felt. Throughout our inquiry, students will learn how to:

• Use wet felting techniques to create a delicate yet durable scarf
• Experiment with wool, silk fabric, and natural fibers to produce organic textures
• Combine fibers and fabrics for unique patterning effects that develop as the cloth reveals its secrets
• Understand the core materials and tools needed to continue felting beyond this workshop

By the end of the class, you will depart with your finished scarf—and the knowledge to continue exploring nuno felting on your own.
