The Case of the Footed Yarn Bowl 2026

Location: St. Louis Community College - Meramec Campus, 11333 Big Bend Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Check in at Registration 15 minutes prior to class starting at PE Building for location.

A most intriguing construction, indeed! This basket begins with a solid wooden base where each spoke is placed with precise, detective-like accuracy before the weaving begins. Standing at 6 inches tall (not including its distinguished feet) and boasting a 29-inch circumference, it’s the ideal size for holding a ball of yarn or for keeping fruit, sweets, letters, or other small mysteries neatly contained.

Throughout this investigation, you’ll learn to identify the right and wrong sides of your reed, master the art of twining, and refine your skills in starting and stopping your weave with care. You’ll apply the rim and lash it all securely into place before affixing the feet, glued and screwed, of course, \once the basket is complete.

By the end of your sleuthing, you’ll have not only solved the mystery of the perfect yarn bowl but also crafted a beautiful and functional piece worthy of display in any parlor—or perhaps even on Holmes’s own desk at 221B Baker Street.
