Mosaic knitting is one of the most brilliant (and deceptively simple) methods for venturing into the world of colorwork. In this class, you’ll investigate its secrets firsthand! Together, we’ll examine what mosaic knitting really is, learn how to work its distinctive slip-stitch technique, and uncover essential clues that will help you master it with confidence.
Our case study for this session will be the Pinus Cowl Pattern by SweaterFreak, a design chosen for its ability to highlight the beauty and intrigue of mosaic colorwork. As we work through the pattern, you’ll discover how two high-contrast colors can be used to create striking, intricate motifs—all without the complexities of traditional stranded knitting. Even Dr. Watson would call it “elementary” once you know the trick.
This class is ideal for knitters looking to broaden their skill set or gain confidence with new techniques. Whether you’re a curious beginner or a seasoned sleuth with needles, you’ll leave equipped to complete a beautiful cowl and apply the mosaic method to future projects.
Join me as we open the case file on mosaic knitting and elevate your craft to the next level!
