Large Project/Blanket Basket

Class Time: Saturday, April 26, 2025 8 AM to 4 PM

Location: St. Louis Community College - Meramec Campus, 11333 Big Bend Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Check in at Registration 15 minutes prior to class starting at PE Building for location.

This 21" x 10" x 11" basket is designed for those ready to take their basket weaving skills to the next level. Not for the faint of heart, this project is best suited for weavers with some prior experience, as it incorporates a variety of advanced techniques that challenge and refine your craftsmanship.

We’ll begin with a solid woven base to ensure durability, followed by "chicken feeting" the fillers to create a strong foundation. You'll master twining and start/stop weaving, learning how to build structure and shape as you progress. Finally, we’ll apply a beautifully finished rim and attach sturdy leather handles using traditional lashing techniques to complete your functional and stylish basket.

By the end of this class, you'll walk away with a beautifully handcrafted, durable basket—perfect for carrying supplies, shopping at the market, or displaying as a statement piece in your home. Bring your weaving skills, patience, and creativity, and get ready for a rewarding challenge!

• The class minimum is 5 students. If we are unable to fill these spots, we will cancel the class and provide a full refund.
