Curious about natural fibers and wool? In this class, students will explore plant and animal fibers, examining their physical properties and processing some in their raw form.
We'll analyze a variety of fiber and wool breed samples, discussing their visual and tactile characteristics and the attributes they produce. As we work hands-on with raw materials, we'll walk through the stages of wool processing—skirting, scouring, picking, and carding—while exploring how different preparation methods impact yarn characteristics.
This class is so valuable for all Fiber Artists to understand the properties of riber based on its type to help you create projects you love.
