Color can feel overwhelming, but understanding color theory is essential for any dyer looking to create harmonious, vibrant results. In this immersive workshop, we’ll break down the fundamentals, starting with the three primary colors and building a twelve-shade color wheel to deepen your understanding of color relationships.
Through a series of five hands-on exercises, you'll apply these concepts by dyeing 1/8-yard pieces of wool to explore different color harmonies in action. This practical approach will give you the confidence to mix, match, and create your own stunning color palettes.
We will be using acid dyes in this class (not natural dyes), and each participant will receive a comprehensive materials kit, including:
✅ A binder with handouts & page protectors for samples
✅ A color wheel for reference
✅ Disposable pipettes & lidded cups for dye mixing
✅ A flat paintbrush for application
✅ Five pieces of 1/8-yard wool fabric
✅ All necessary consumables for the workshop
By the end of the class, you’ll have a solid foundation in color theory, hands-on dyeing experience, and the skills to confidently experiment with color in your own projects!
