Brioche knitting is beautiful—but when something goes wrong, it can feel overwhelming to fix! In this class, you’ll learn how to identify and correct common mistakes in brioche knitting, giving you the confidence to troubleshoot your projects with ease.

We’ll cover efficient techniques for tinking and frogging brioche, helping you determine when each method is the best approach. You’ll also learn how to fix dropped stitches and yarnovers, as well as mistakes in patterning, such as misplaced increases, decreases, or incorrectly leaning decreases.

Beyond just fixing errors, we’ll explore the structure of brioche fabric, helping you understand how stitches interact so you can prevent future mistakes and troubleshoot with confidence. By the end of this class, you'll have the skills and knowledge to tackle any brioche mishap, allowing you to enjoy the process without fear of mistakes!

Homework

Cast on 25 sts using a long tail cast on and color A (I recommend using your lighter color). Slide the work to other end of needle to work RS with color B.

Setup Row (color B, RS): K1, sl1yo, (p, sl1yo) repeat to last st, sl1 wyif. Turn to work color A.

Brioche Rib WS (color A): K1, (brp, sl1yo) to last 2 sts, brp, sl1 wyif. Slide.

Brioche Rib WS (color B): K1, (sl1yo, brk) to last 2 sts, sl1yo, sl1 wyif. Turn.

Brioche Rib RS (color A): K1, (brk, sl1yo) to last 2 sts, brk, sl1 wyif. Slide.

Brioche Rib RS (color B): K1, (sl1yo, brp) to last 2 sts, sl1yo, sl1 wyif. Turn.

Repeat the two Brioche Rib rows four more times, then work the Brioche Rib WS row.

Place a lifeline in your swatch.

Work 8 more rows of Brioche Rib (remember that a row worked in color A, then worked again in color B are counted together as one row).
